the heart behind the mission:
Meet Emily!

Hey mamas! My name is Emily Reinisch RN, BSN, founder of The Little Nesting Company. I am a mom of  2  (4 if you count my fur babies), and I have been a registered nurse since 2017 with a background in postpartum, antepartum, newborn nursery, and in-home night nursing. I have taken care of thousands of moms and babies, and let me tell you - it never gets old! It has been my dream job to help moms and babies (and dads too!) for as long as I can remember. It is truly a miracle to witness both a mom and baby be born and watch them get to know each other in this new chapter of life. As I transitioned from hospital work to in-home care, I've become so passionate about helping mom's feel confident and comfortable taking care of this sweet new life in their own home for years to come. Check out my full story below that inspired The Little Nesting Company!

My story. . .

Right out of nursing school at Belmont University here in Nashville, I was a postpartum RN at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. This is where I first fell in love with postpartum and newborn care. As Vanderbilt transitioned to a combined mother/baby unit, I was one of the first “Stork” Nurses - the baby nurse at delivery taking care of baby for the first 2 hours of life. This is where I fell in love with the birth experience and initial education as moms and dads looked at me with happy tears in their eyes and said “Okay now what? How do we keep this little thing alive?!” Making them feel comfortable and confident with their sweet little bundle of joy gave me so much purpose.

After a few years of doing that, I yearned to be able to spend more quality time with parents and being able to dive deep into their goals and questions. I started working for a night nursing company that did in-home newborn care at night. We got to be there in the most vulnerable time and educate them, encourage them, and help them rest. One of my favorite things about night nursing was being able to clean, organize, and reset their home and nursery so that they can wake up to a clean, peaceful space. The last thing you want to do when you get home from the hospital for the first few weeks is worry about cleaning and organizing, right? And being a first time mom, how are you supposed to know where to put things that will be most functional and aesthetic? That’s where my idea for The Little Nesting Company came to be.

As I did night nursing for a few years and helped many close friends and family have babies, I realized how much I loved to be a part of getting them ready for baby in their space and making sure they had all the right baby stuff. I found that every family, every home, every baby was so unique and different in needs and it was so fun for me to talk them through all things baby. I also found that preparing mamas and helping them create a space that works for them makes a huge difference in their ability to thrive in the postpartum period. New parents already have a lot to think about with very little sleep (trust me, I know this on a first hand basis!), so trying to organize and figure out how to use baby stuff usually isn’t on the top of their list. That’s where I come in! From baby registry help and recommendations, to what you have vs what you need, to getting your home ready, to teaching you step by step how to use all of your baby supplies. Let's get your nest ready to bring home your sweet little one!
